MBBR process principle and characteristic

Process principle

MBBR is one kind of new type high effective reactor which between activated sludge method and the fixed biofilm method.Larger specific surface area of the reactor from packing for freedom of movement in the water, sewage continuous pass by the reactor which equipped with mobile packing, it will form into biofilm when grow in packing, large microorganism breed in the biofilm,autotrophic and heterotrophic microorganisms using C, N, P, etc in water to make metabolism , thus to to realize purify sewage function.

The sewage continuous pass by the suspended padding internal of MBBR reactor , it will form biomembrane inside and outside padding surface,in the action of microorganism in biofilm , make the sewage purified. the Packing move freedom in the action of mixed liquor convolute and reversed in reactor.

MBBR reactor with characteristic of bearing impact load ,long sludge age,small excess sludge, with high efficiency and operate flexibility of activated sludge process, comparing with technology , with the characteristic:

The carrier density is slightly lower than water (0.92 ~ 0.97 g/cm3), packing is bigger than surface area (160 ~ 500 m2 / m3). Surface biofilm attached to grow easily, and the structure of the clever design make packing when use cluster, jams, always has the ideal void fraction, and has a good ventilation, water resistance, make the whole process of mixing and aeration system to facilitate maintenance and management.
